April 16 Sand Dunes National Park

We got on the road as soon as we could so we could stop by the Sand Dunes Nat'l Park. It was only 16 miles off the road. The sand dune is so big that it could cover the city of Denver. Unbelievable!

We walked a half mile loop, but it was so windy that it made it seem colder. We were glad to get back to the truck to warm up.

This really wasn't the right time of the year to enjoy the park, but I'm still glad we went.

The drive from Alamosa,CO to Amarillo, TX is long. And most of the way it was overcast and dreary. When we got here it was dark and foggy. It wasn't really a nice trip. But we were safe, by the grace of God.

When we went through New Mexico, we were only 3 miles from a National Monument. It was a volcano. You could see lava rock by the road. We just didn't want to take the time to stop. Maybe the next time.

Wow! what a motel room. We're in a Super 8. I didn't know that they had suites. We have a real front room with a couch, chair, coffee table, and a kitchenette with a table and two chairs. And we have a separate bath and dressing room. The bedroom is really big too. I think what is happening is that we've stayed in so many motels, that they are up-grading us pretty regularly. NICE!!!
